Q. How do I get a library card?

A. All patrons living inside of Polk County receive free library cards in accordance with the Polk County Library Cooperative (PCLC) guidelines. Items used for identification must have the patron's name, picture, and current address. They include:

• Driver's license or state issued ID with current address.
• Current utility bill.
• Checkbook with printed address.
• Current lease or rent receipt.
• Voter's registration card.

Q. How do children get a library card?

A. Children will be issued a library card when they are old enough to write their name. Until a child reaches the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign consent for the minor to be issued a card.

Q. How many items can I check out from the library?

A. There is no limit to the number of items that can be checked out. The library can also request materials from other libraries for you to pick up at the Mulberry library.

Q. Can I request items from other libraries?

A. Yes, with a few exceptions. A staff member at the library can do this for you or you can do it on the computer at the library or from home. Some Polk County Libraries currently do not lend their videos or DVDs while other libraries do. Also, if an item is not available in Polk County, the library can attempt to get the book from another library throughout the United States.

Q. Can I renew my items?

A. Most items can be renewed twice. This may be done in person, over the phone, or over the Internet. The library phone number is 863-425-3246; the web address is http://www.pclc.lib.fl.us.

Q. Where can I return the items I checked out?

A. Items can be returned to any public library in Polk County regardless of where it was borrowed from. The overdue fee is 50 cents per day, for videos and DVDs, or 10 cents per day, for all other items.

Q. How long can I check materials out for and how much are the library fines for overdue materials?

A. Every item in the Mulberry Library checks out for two weeks. The overdue fee is 50 cents per day, for videos and DVDs, or 10 cents per day, for all other items.

Q. Does the library have Internet and computers for me to use? And how much does it cost?

A. People may sign up to use the computers on a first come, first serve basis. There is a 30-minute time limit if other patrons are waiting to use the computers. By using the computers you are agreeing to abide by the Internet/Computer Acceptable Use Policy. Children under the age of 12 must have a parent or guardian with them to use the computers. Please sign in and out at the front desk. There is no charge for this service. Computer copies are 25 cents per page though.

Q. Does the library make copies and send/receive faxes?

A. Copies are 10 cents per page. Computer copies are 25 cents per page. An outgoing fax is $1.00 for the first page and 25 cents for each additional page. Incoming fax fees are 25 cents per page.

Q. Do you have Storytime and other children's programs?

A. Storytime is currently on Tuesdays at 10am. There is a summer Library Program each year for children of all ages. Other programs can be arranged upon request. Please check our current program schedule.

Q. How can I volunteer at the library?

A. To volunteer at the library you need to come in and fill out an application.

Q. How can I contact the library?

A. The phone number at the library is 863-425-3246. The fax number is 863-425-8818. Or, you can email the Library Director at mullerm@pclc.lib.fl.us.

Q. Do you have any online databases I can use either from home or from the library?

A. All of the following databases are available from your home computer or from the library computers except Ancestry.com. (It must be accessed from the library.) To access these databases go to www.pclc.lib.fl.us, and select DATABASES. Here you can also see the other databases available with more being added all the time.
